LETNIY DVORETS
The construction of Letniy Dvorets in Letniy Sad took place from 1710 to 1714. This is one of the oldest buildings in St Petersburg. The architect Miketti conceived the plans for the palace following strict indications from Peter the Great who had a clear idea of what he wanted.
The palace is a simple two-storey yellow building decorated with bas-reliefs.
The palace consists of 20 rooms, 10 rooms on each floor. The lower floor was the private quarters of the emperor himself, while his wife Catherine and their children lived on the upper floor. Works of art of the early 18th century are kept in the palace.
