PAVLOVSK
This palace was built in the last quarter of the 18th century, and presents unusual proportions.
The palace was built for Pavel Petrovich and his wife Maria Fedorovna. Over the period 1782-1786 the palace gradually turned into an imperial residence. C. Kameron was the main architect of the palace, while Venchenko Brenna decorated the main rooms, and devised the plans for the buildings in the park. The palace burned down, but was restored in the early 19th century by the architect Voronikhin.
One of the largest collections of Russian and French art works of the end of the 18th century – beginning of 20th century is exposed in the palace.
With an area of 600 ha Pavlosk Park is the largest park in Europe.
