TAVRICHESKIY SAD
Catherine II had Tavricheskiy Park and Tavricheskiy Palace built for Prince Potemkin-Tavricheskiy. The palace was designed in classical style. The manor includes a vast garden with greenhouses, artificial ponds and numerous pavilions. In the middle of the 19th century the garden opened to visitors. In winter the ponds were turned into skating rinks. Today a greenhouse with rare plants can still be found in the garden , which also includes sports grounds. Chess players, in particular, like gathering in Tavricheskiy Park.
